Champlain and Strawberries

I think I've posted about three times today, and then promptly deleted whatever I put up. I'm sick of writing about myself and my stupid little issues. This is because I am happy, and as a result my emo me/Catholic upbringing finds everything I write to be incredibly tacky.

So, I'm going to tell you a story. This story is about the wonders of kitsch.

I went for breakfast yesterday at the Blue Canoe, the restaurant in the Lincoln Big Stop. Outside this shrine to tacky knick-knacks was a wooden carving of a moose and a man paddling along in, what else, a blue canoe. Inside, there were universal remotes with buttons as big as erasers, and belt buckles as big as my face.

I love this stuff. Kitsch is convenience and lack of imagination. However, it is also mass production made unique.

In the future, because these items will inevitably survive out of a wonderful twist of the way the world works, people are going to find "HERS" license plates and Kenny Rogers box sets.

ok... this blog is in process. there is a cat on me.
